Air Hostess

Selection Procedure
The applicant should be physically fit with pleasing personality and fair complexion. Once the screening of applicant is done the Airline company will invite for the written test, which will be of objective type (multiple choice). Those who clear the written test have to appear for group discussion followed by personal interview of successful candidate. Once get selected, the candidate will be on training for 2 to 3 months in which one can learn about the service, grooming, safety and first aid after which one is initially put on training flights.

Flight Training
The flight training covers several topics, each of which deals with technical and non-technical aspects of the aircraft. Starting the history of aviation, the candidates are made to learn in-flight service, passengers handling, passenger psychology, service of meals on the aircraft, the art of conversation, Transactional analysis, emergency evacuation system, personal grooming and hygiene, First Aids, confidence building, handling of visually impaired passengers, making announcements, emergency demonstration, etc.

Prospects
With increasing privatization and International collaboration, the future is bright for Air Hostess, and the Air line company is looking to increase the fleet and there is lots of demand for Air Hostess, the interested candidate and find employment with private owned domestic as well as international airlines like Sahara, Singapore Airlines, Jet Airways, etc... And government airlines such as Air India and Indian Airlines.

Flight steward/Stewardess
Responsible for passenger care and other services on board flight. The salary can be anything from Rs. 15,000 to 32,000 in domestic airline per month. The salary goes up to anywhere between Rs. 75,000 to 1, 00,000 per month in an international carriers. You also get attractive perks which include free summer and winter uniforms, foreign allowance, free air travel for self and at 10 percent of the total fair for the family.

Flight Purser
After three to five years of experience depending upon your performance, flight steward/stewardess is eligible to become a flight purser. Your responsibilities increases as you take over the in charge of the cabin crew on board. Salaries get doubled up.

Ground Job
You can join here directly or after having served on the flight for long, you can opt for ground jobs in sections like staff training and human resource management in the corporate office.

An Air Hostess has every chance to be promoted to the post of senior fight attendant and then head attendant. Career as an Air Hostess would last for about eight to ten years. After that she can move on to the ground duties including the job of ground hostess, Check Hostess, training of Air Hostess or work at the management level. One can also diversify into any one of the other departments in the airline industry.

Remuneration
In the beginning, depending on the airlines you are getting into, your salary and other allowance may range from Rs.16,000 to Rs.35,000 (approximately) or more per month. The maximum you can earn as senior Air Hostess is about 75,000 per month in Air India or Indian Airlines. Domestic private airlines pay much more. In foreign airlines, pay for senior Air Hostess can cross Rs.3 lakh a month in Indian currency.
