Air Hostess forms an integral and very critical part of the aircraft crew. The duty begins before the arrival of the passengers An Airhostess generally responsible for the following duties.

  • Safety check: receive prepared meals, beverages, ensuring safety equipment, blankets, pillows, magazines, medicines, and so on…
  • Welcoming the passengers with smile on board, check boarding passes and helping them to find their seats and putting their luggage in the language chamber.
  • Giving instruction to the passengers about how to operate the air flow system, knob above one’s seat and how to call the Air hostess in time of need.
  • Serve food and drinks to the passengers.
  • Answering passenger’s inquiries on facilities and services.
  • Giving First Aid to passengers who feel sick on board.
  • Above all , keeping an eye on passengers comfort like adjusting seat inclination, setting pillow under someone’s head during a long flight and so on.
  • Helping passenger in time of crises like emergency landing, crash landing, etc.., to cop with the situation and disembark fast from the aircraft, etc.
  • Prepare for emergency landings and the evacuation of passengers.

Eligibility
The required Education qualification for an Air Hostess training programme is Plus two or a graduate degree with diploma/degree in Hotel management or Tourism Management. The candidate must be eligible to hold an Indian Passport and should be below 25 years with min height of 157.5 cm. and the weight should be proportional to the height. And the candidate must be unmarried, with normal vision in each eye. Fluency in English, Hindi and knowledge of an international language is an added advantage.

Personal Traits
One must have common sense, sense of responsibility to handle the situation, initiative, should be friendly with all politeness, physical stamina and capacity to work for long hours. Ability to react quickly at the time of emergency and presence of mind, systematic approach, a well modulated pleasant voice, and a proportionate figure with a graceful carriage are the important personal traits required of an Air Hostess.
